There are several examples of how one-sided this article is.
Let’s start with the headline, also known as the Lede to journalism aficionados (LEDEAgenda.com!). Notice how immediately they attempt to ‘frame’ the argument.
“Immigration Raids spark anger”
The reader must be thinking to himself, “wow, I must be the only one who is angry about this”. Doubts and guilt set in. Then you start to read the article and find out WHO is angry.
The ACLU.
‘Resident Aliens’ from Mexico (notice how the Statesman doesn’t tell you how they obtained alien status).
Members of the liberal advocacy group, Community Action Network.
People you don’t relate to anyway. People most Idahoans do not relate to. People whose opinions, because of their political agendas, do not reflect the ordinary, everyday voting taxpayers. People who do not represent the true America.
The article mentions that the “ACLU may not be able to do much in this case”. YEAH BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT FREAKING CITIZENS!!
Additionally, the article goes on, the reason for the raid? They were seeking a sexual predator. Excuse me? You want me to be sympathetic to a rapist or child molester? An illegal immigrant child molester? You’re out-of-your-freaking-mind-you-sick-in-the-head-liberal-jackass.
The article also makes a point to belittle the members of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement calling them “mean” and overly authoritarian.
And what exactly is the problem here?
ICE Officers SHOULD be ‘mean’, they are seeking to arrest CRIMINALS!! Illegal immigrants are frequently involved in drug smuggling, identity theft, gang activity and illegal use of taxpayer services. They are criminals, and the proper way to get illegal immigration stopped is aggressive enforcement of our laws. That requires being ‘mean’ and arresting them where they are hiding, fining those who hire and house them, as well as seeking out those assisted with their invasion.
Yes, they are being ‘mean’. And it is about damn time too!
The Idaho Statesman’s agenda here is massive, sickening. This is nothing more than a political hack piece designed to manipulate the reader’s opinions. They are pushing their anti-immigration enforcement agenda. And quite simply, it is wrong. Dead wrong.
Their is no ‘anger’ with the average Idahoan. In fact, most Idahoans today read the headline and were RELIEVED that enforcement actions FINALLY began. They are long, long overdue. I hope, beg, and pray that the next time they use the same aggressive tactics in Nampa, Caldwell, and the general Canyon Country area.
It is refreshing to finally see REAL enforcement of our immigration laws, we can only hope that the government will start focusing in next on the areas that are commonly known to house a disproportionate number of Hispanics and foreigners.
