President Bush vetoes bill with Special Olympics funding
I am sure some politically correct fascist will try and use this to show how ‘evil’ the President is. Whatever, the veto was justified, unfortunately Bush has let one too many of these pork-barrel bills slip past.
Taken a look at the Federal Budget debt lately? You should, especially if you have kids. They will be paying this off for the rest of their lives.
We have to get a handle on things. The only way to restore sanity to this nightmare is a strict return to the Constitution. Special interest legislation, like the Special Olympics, have to go. Every organization cannot simply come to the foot of Government and demand a handout based on some ‘need’.
Government will have to be shrunk. The problem is there is very little political will to do it. The politicans are too entrenched in the re-election scheme to be able to come to a grasp of it, and Congressional and State budgets just keep growing and growing. On average 6% a year, without fail.
The defeat of Proposition 2 in Idaho which allowed the repeal of term limits may very well have been the last chance for a real honest effort by the conservatives in Idaho to stop the escalation of government intrusion into their lives. As long as you have the career politicians running the show, the voters will face an uphill battle from stopping the introduction of new government ‘benefits’.
Simply put, Special Olympics wants tax money because they cannot muster enough support to keep their product alive. The government/media complex has been pushing new ‘Special Olympics Idaho’ stories on KTVB ever since the prospect of bringing the ‘games’ here started. They wanted to bilk the taxpayers eight million dollars for the ‘honor’ of hosting the charade. Whatever.
What sickens me most is that under the guise of ‘tolerance and diversity,’ government is being bled dry with special interest spending. The politicians are too afraid to be labeled a ‘hate monger’ to stand up to the abuse of taxpayer money. Try getting an eight million dollar beni for your ‘White Male Heterosexual Republican Christian Games’. Yeah, good luck with that. And yet somehow when taxpayers are forced to foot the most ridiculous and outrageous publicly funded events we are supposed to say nothing.
Neon wings at the Boise Airport.
An Anne Frank Memorial in state with only ONE Jewish church.
Special Olympic funding when our schools, roads and troops are needing maintenance.
A ‘Mexican-Cultural’ center in Nampa, which boasts one of the highest illegal-immigrant crime rates in the state.
In other words- it all adds up. It all matters. It all comes back to the pocketbook.
When are the politicians going to grow some damn balls and start saying NO!
I find it funny that once again it has taken the nations’ least popular President in history to do the right thing. The sad part is the Special Olympics will still get their funding, the rabid liberals will just attach it as a rider to another unrelated bill, it doesn’t even have to be a spending bill, until the measure passes. That is the consequence of not having single issue legislation. And then, to put icing on the cake, the jackasses in Washington will call the bill the, ‘Patriotic America Act’ or the ‘Support Mom’s Home-Made Apple Pie Bill’. After all, you’re not against America and apple pie are you Senator?
I guess you have to have wide stance in your view of what the Constitution allows if your going to make it as a politician. But that doesn’t make it right. And it certainly doesn’t make it easy to be a Ron Paul-ian when the media is so indoctrinated with the politically correct crap.
When will the voice of the taxpayers be heard? We do not have to fund all of this, we do not have to let the system be robbed by those with agendas anymore. It is time to stop pandering to every special interest group that wants a handout from Uncle Sam. It’s time to start reducing the size of government. It’s time for politicians to man-up and realize that saying NO isn’t going to be popular, but it is going to be right.
Social engineering at its finest- taken by force, given by greed.
