McCain’s Vice-President Choice Should Not Be Another Slap In The Face

Amnesty

Campaign Finance Reform

Cap and Trade Legislation

Ughhh. Seriously how did this man win our party’s nomination again? Whatever. We have work to do now.

How many times can you poke a lion in the eye and not expect to get bit? As many of my dear readers note, I am passionate about maintaining the alliance in the Republican party between the constitutionalists, libertarians and conservatives. This can only be done under a platform of lower taxes, less government, personal responsibility, strong national defense and family values.

If McCain sticks to his character he may soon find himself without the manpower, or willpower, to back his candidacy. What I mean by that is we all know McCain’s character as this point; he will not pick someone to present himself better to the party, rather he will pick someone whom agrees with his particular agenda (rather than the Republican agenda).

As I have noted several times over the past few months: For many conservatives, the “line in the sand” has already been crossed. Conservatives are not turning out to the polls in the numbers they used to and that may well be only because there is not another party that would be worth their time going to.

However, here is an observation of mine: both Hillary and Obama have been stumping their ability to bring the Federal Budget into balance. Not that they are fiscal conservatives by any means, but the Republican party could very well find itself without the moderate, well-run government voter come November.

The Libertarians went for Paul. The Conservatives, while not going anywhere, may not show up, and the Moderates in the party could suddenly shift to the Democrats in search of a more Conservative vote.

And all because of the perception that John McCain does not represent the Republican unity on taxes, government and values. So how do we offset this?

Simple. We need Jeb Bush.

I haven’t even posted this yet and I already know some Liberal has left a comment, “yeah another Bush, good move. /sarcasm”.

He’s conservative. He would get along with McCain on some of his “maverick” stubbornness. And he would also serve as a direct slap-in-the-face to the Democrats that we so desperately need. Oh, and currently he is sitting idle, just waiting for the next political opportunity.

A Bush on the ticket would rally the party’s base of support around the McCain campaign. Bush voters are still defiantly loyal to the 43rd President and a chance for a referendum vote, a redemption vote, is exactly what the Republican party needs.

Oh, and Jeb served as Executive in an enormously diverse and difficult state. He could be just the man we need to keep our Republican party faction together.

McCain/Bush 2008. And no, I’m not joking.
